While there are 4 more website tools offering this service but I find Fontsquirrel’s service easiest to use. 
The site that lets you identify and let you download hundreds of different font types.
Moreover, it has a very good font identifier tool that lets you drag-and-drop an image right into it, then scan it for fonts. It’s very sleek and accurate, offering you multiple typefaces that best match the one you entered, and letting you go ahead and purchase them right away.

How to Identify a font from an image with FontSquirrel Matcherator

  1. Go to https://www.fontsquirrel.com/matcherator.
  2. Click on the "upload image" link or drag the image into the box.
  3. Now crop the image to select only the text you want to identify. This can be done by clicking and dragging on the control handles of the rectangle shown on screen. You also have the option of rotating the image if the text is not horizontal.
  4. After that click the Matcherate It! button.
  5. Fontsqurirrel will show you a list of fonts that closely matches the font in the image.

  • Go to https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/.
  • Click and drag your photo into the box, and MyFonts will identify any text in the image. Then, simply click to drag around the text you’d like to scan. 
  • WhatTheFont does a great job at finding text in an image, so in almost all cases you should see that the text is automatically highlighted.
  • If not, you can use the drag tool to highlight the text manually. Once you do this, click the blue arrow to identify your font.

For example, the darker images shown earlier could be detected by What The Font, but not by Fontspring.   2. Now Drag your image into the box on the Font Matcherator website.
  3. Click and drag to surround the text with the marked box.
  4. If text is found, you will see red boxes outlining the text.
  5. Once if you found the font, click the green Matcherate it button.
  6. The end result may not be as accurate as you’d hope, but you should still see fonts that look similar to the one you scanned.
