Dark mode on Gmail- Tech Giant, Google has officially rolled out dark mode Gmail on iPhone and iPad users.

According to a report by 9to5 GoogleApple users can enable dark mode for the Gmail app on iPhone and iPad via the latest update 6.0.200519 on the Apple Store.

When Google announced the dark-mode, many iOS users faced problems with the update. While some could not access it, for others, it would disappear after a restart.

Google in an official statement;

"Gmail’s dark theme is most apparent — and appreciated — in your inbox, with Google adopting a dark shade of gray rather than true black. The full-width search field up top is a lighter gray, while the navigation drawer is similarly tinted,".

How to Enable Dark Mode on Gmail for iPhone & iPad Users?

To enable dark mode in Gmail on ‌the iPhone‌ and ‌iPad‌, update the app on your device, then follow these steps.

  • Launch the Gmail App.
  • Just Tap on the Menu section of the app, located in the top left-hand corner of the screen (three-line icon).
  • Scroll Down and select 'Settings' > 'Theme'
  • In 'Theme', the users can select 'Light', 'Dark', or 'System Default' settings.
Note that if your device is running iOS 11 or iOS 12, you'll see only a Dark theme toggle instead of a Theme sub-menu in settings for them to enable a system-wide dark mode.

As for Gmail, Google has steadily been implementing a full rollout for dark mode across all of Google’s apps, comparatively slower than other platforms. Last month, Google had enabled the theme for its Google app for Android 10 and iOS 12/13 users.

So far, the tech giant Google had enabled the dark theme for Gmail on Android along with Google Calendar, and Google Fit for android and select iOS users. Google Maps is yet to support dark mode.

In the last few months, Gmail has added several new features to its Gmail app for iOS, including support for Siri shortcuts when sending emails, and adding attachments to emails from the iOS files app.
